Sgt. Mike McGinty and Officer Oscar Gamez — Houston Police Dept.
Our nation is experiencing a metal theft explosion. HPD officers McGinty
and Gamez made a difference by working to pass an ordinance which
required more than 75 scrap yards to report transaction information and
images electronically. Their hard work and devotion lead to the
development of the LeadsOnline Metal Theft Investigative System (MTIS).
Now thieves are going to jail and communities are spending less to
repair and rebuild their infrastructure.

eBay’s Fraud Investigations Team (FIT) works to promote the safe
use of its platforms, and collaborates with local, state, federal and
international law enforcement agencies to enforce policies, prosecute
fraudsters and help keep their community safe. You will learn secrets to
identifying suspects and stolen property in the online marketplace.

Sgt. Tim Willis — North Little Rock Police Dept.
Some people say they are seeing fewer meth labs, but they are still out
there causing a variety of social problems in our communities. Sgt.
Willis, the 2007 winner of the National Enrique Camarena Award, will
tell us about how his “can do” approach helped launch
LeadsOnlabs MethMonitor, now in use in several states, and is being
deployed statewide in Arkansas. His department has been recognized by
the International Chiefs of Police for their leadership in making a
difference in the nations’ struggle with the meth epidemic.
