NEWS RELEASE LEADSONLINE AND ACJIC LAUNCH STATEWIDE, INTELLIGENCE-BASED CRIME SOLVING SYSTEM IN ALABAMA DALLAS, August 17, 2005 – LeadsOnline, the nation’s largest web-based investigative system used by law enforcement to solve crimes involving property, is enabling Alabama law enforcement agencies to share information and make more effective use of their ACJIC service through a recently launched state crime information center direct interface. Law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Alabama can now rapidly produce an electronic report of merchandise transactions from pawn and secondhand stores in their jurisdiction and electronically submit this information directly to the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) for comparison to its database. With LeadsOnline’s ACJIC Direct Interface service, investigators can quickly identify and potentially retrieve property involved in reported crimes across the state. Historically, Alabama investigators and administrative staff have manually collected thousands of paper tickets from pawn stores in their respective jurisdictions, and then hand-sorted and input the receipts into the ACJIC database for analysis. In many cases, agencies found this administrative task so time-consuming and unfruitful that they would be forced to ignore the opportunity to compare pawn and second-hand store transaction records with the state’s stolen property records. Law enforcement agencies in Missouri, Georgia and Texas currently recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen property each year using LeadsOnline’s state crime center interface. LeadsOnline is pleased to now offer this valuable crime fighting tool to law enforcement agencies in Alabama, providing additional hope for justice and restitution to crime victims throughout the state.
