DENTON, Texas — Denton County authorities arrested a man Wednesday who is wanted in Florida on a murder warrant in the stabbing death of a 58-year-old woman found tied up in her home.

David Byron Rush, 45, was arrested by officers responding to a report of a possible break-in in the neighborhood where a former girlfriend lived.

Rush, 45, is wanted on warrants out of Seminole County, Fla., for murder, fleeing police, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine within 100 feet of a worship center and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. He was being held without bail in the Denton County Jail Wednesday night.

He also is charged with burglary in Denton County.

Assistant Chief Deputy Steve Macsas said authorities learned last week that Rush might be in the area. He has previously lived in Denton.

Denton police said they found some jewelry in a pawn shop that they believe belonged to Madeleine Leinen, who was found dead in her home in the Longwood, Fla., area on May 8.

Sgt. Brad Curtis said that Detective Matt Cain ran across the items pawned by Rush on Tuesday while working the pawn shop detail.

"He ran Rush (on computerized crime records) and learned he was wanted for murder in Florida," Curtis said in a story for Thursday's Denton Record-Chronicle. "We seized the jewelry and began looking for him that night."

Seminole County authorities said information found in Leinen's wrecked car gave them Rush's identity.

It wasn't immediately clear if Rush had an attorney.
