A Pasadena woman is charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing cash and jewelry worth over $13,000 from a resident of a retirement home in Deer Park.
After receiving numerous theft reports from residents at the Waterford Senior Living Community at 201 McDermott Street since mid-2010, the Deer Park Police Department's investigation division initiated a theft investigation on July 6.
The reports detailed that jewelry was missing from inside their residence and there were no signs of forced entry.
Police identified the suspect as Maria Gonzalez, 38, a housekeeper at the Waterford. Investigators found that she made about 100 pawn shop transactions since January 2010.
Deer Park Police Detective Jason Meredith said although Gonzalez is the main suspect in most if not all the thefts that occurred at the Waterford since last year, she could only be linked to one theft report.
"We've exhausted all leads," he said.
Gonzalez was arrested by Pasadena Police at her Pasadena home and her bond set at $2,000.
