Point Pleasant, W.Va. arrested after selling stolen jewelry in Ohio

Mason County Man Charged with Grand Larceny

July 13, 2011

Point Pleasant police said Matthew Young was charged with grand larceny after taking jewelry from a local business.

POINT PLEASANT – A Point Pleasant man is behind bars after police said he stole jewelry from a local business.

Point Pleasant Police said Matthew Allen Young, 32, was charged with grand larceny. Officers were alerted by Siders Jewelers that two bracelets had been taken from the store's front jewelry cases. Police were called to investigate July 9.

The owner of the store told police that a 10-karat, 7-inch diamond tennis bracelet and a 14-karat yellow gold rope bracelet had both been taken from the store in the past month, according to the report.

Officers then contacted Cashland Financial in Gallipolis, Ohio, after an Internet database known as Leads Online matched the description of the stolen jewelry. Young was identified as the seller.

Young was brought in for questioning July 10 and told police he stole the jewelry then took it to Cashland.

Young was taken to the Western Regional Jail.
