HOUSTON – A woman was arrested after she stole a $6,000 ring from a dying man in Seabrook, Texas, police say.
Emima Lawler was working as a hospice nurse for the 72-year-old, bed-ridden victim at his house in the 3400 block of Ocean Ridge Circle, according to court documents.
On Feb. 1, the victim told Seabrook Police investigators Lawler had stolen his 14-carat gold, seven diamond-studded ring.
He said he confronted Lawler about the deed and demanded she return the ring. She, allegedly, told him she had already pawned it.
Using LeadsOnline, investigators traced the stolen ring to a pawn shop off of Nasa Road 1. The ring had been pawned on July 11, 2011.
A pawn shop employee identified Lawler in a photo lineup. She was charged with theft and a $2,000 bond was posted.
