BRANDENBURG – A Brandenburg man has been charged in connection with a rash of burglaries across several counties and two states, and more arrests are expected.
Joseph Riggs, 27, of Brandenburg has been charged with receiving stolen property over $500 and was lodged in the Meade County Jail in the wake of an investigation that led to the recovery of more than $10,000 in stolen property.
Detective Bart Ponder with the Meade County Sheriff's Office ran a check on a stolen iPod through the Leads Online database. Information from that search helped police locate stolen property in Breckinridge and Hardin counties.
Riggs' residence was searched where police said a number of stolen items were found. Additional stolen items have been recovered in Corydon, Ind.
Five flat screen televisions, four handguns, jewelry, gold coins and several video game consoles and games were recovered, according to the Meade County Sheriff's Office.
Meade County Sheriff Butch Kerrick said recovery of the property resolves 10 cases in Meade County and at least two in Breckinridge County. The investigation continues and more suspects have been identified, police said, but no one else had been charged as of Friday evening.
