FLAGSTAFF, Al (CBS5) - Flagstaff police detectives have linked a recent sexual assault to another case earlier this year.
A sexual assault reported on July 21 is similar to one that occurred on Jan. 18, officers said.
In both cases, the female victims were leaving the downtown bar district in the early morning hours when they were approached by the suspect.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab confirmed through DNA samples that the two cases have the same suspect.
A composite sketch of the suspedwas completed by the victim of the July 21st incident.
The Flagstaff Police Department Detective Division has been getting help in the investigation from the FBI and the DPS Crime Lab.
Flagstaff police have placed extra officers in the downtown area late at night and in the early morning hours trying to identify any leads, enhance security and obtain further evidence.The Flagstaff Police Department has notified all the downtown bar businesses and provided them with the composite sketch.
Officers are spreading the word in order to inform incoming students at Northern Arizona University of the incidents.
