Two Sulphur men charged with theft from local home

On July 9, CPSO detectives were contacted by the Nederland Police Department in Texas concerning Ray and Allyn reportedly attempting to pawn several collectable coins and currency matching the description of those stolen from the Hwy 108 West home

A call from Texas authorities leads to the arrest of two men for a reported theft at a Sulphur home. Roger L. Ray, 44, of Trailer St. in Sulphur, and Thomas R. Allyn, 34, of Hwy 1256, also in Sulphur, are each facing charges of simple burglary, theft and possession of stolen goods.

On July 7, around 7 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call about a burglary and theft at a residence on Hwy 108 West in Sulphur. The victim reportedly told deputies that when she returned home, she had discovered that her home had been burglarized and that she was missing several items, including electronics, jewelry and over $13,000 worth of collectible coins and currency.

On July 9, CPSO detectives were contacted by the Nederland Police Department in Texas concerning Ray and Allyn reportedly attempting to pawn several collectable coins and currency matching the description of those stolen from the Hwy 108 West home.

After further investigation, Ray and Allyn were arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. As of Friday afternoon, the two were awaiting extradition to Calcasieu Parish where they will be booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center.

The stolen coins and currency has been recovered by detectives and returned to the victim.

Officials state that the investigation is on-going and more arrests are possible.
