Baxter County deputies arrested a man who they say stole more than $20,000 in silver and other items.
Mitchell Teconchuk is jailed on felony charges of breaking and entering and theft. He's accused of stealing items from a locked safe inside a home near Mountain Home.
The home owner reported to the Sheriff's Office on May 11th that someone had broken into his safe and stolen silver coins, silver certificates, silver bars, a 12 gauge shotgun, a .38 caliber pistol, and other items valued collectively at more than $20,000. The owner told investigators Teconchuk had recently been to his home.
During the investigation, investigators say they learned that Teconchuk had pawned several silver bars and silver coins at two separate pawn shops between April 30th and May 7th. One of these pawn shops had also bought similar items from another person. This person was contacted and told investigators he had pawned or sold the items at the request of Teconchuk.
Teconchuk is held in the Baxter County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bond.
