Surveillance images help Madison Police find burglary suspect

February 25, 2014

Madison Police say home video surveillance pictures helped them identify a burglary suspect.

Officers say 58-year-old Nathaniel Abrams Jr. is accused of breaking into the enclosed porch of a home on Packers Ave. last summer and stealing a power saw.

The victim found the saw for sale at Pawn American this month.

He called police, and officers used the LeadsOnline service to find a photo and a name of the man who sold the saw.

Abrams was in jail on an unrelated charge. Tuesday night, police spoke with him about the saw. Abrams reportedly admitted to selling it, but said he did not steal it. He says he bought it from someone else.

The officer then showed him a picture from the home surveillance camera and the one from LeadsOnline. Based on the pictures, the officer said he believed the men in each photo to be the same person.

Police are recommending Abrams be charged with burglary and fraudulent writings.
