Mountain Home Man Arrested After Burglary Investigation

October 25, 2013

A Mountain Home man has been arrested on several felony charges following an investigation into a residential burglary.

36-year-old Chadwick Whitlow faces charges felony charges of burglary, theft of property, and criminal mischief, and was held at report time on $50,000 bond.

On October 20, a neighbor reported hearing a noise at an unoccupied residence on County Road 30 and went to investigate. The neighbor reported two people leaving with a truck and flat bed trailer loaded with various articles, including copper and scrap metal. The neighbor blocked the roadway off and called the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies made contact with the two men, one of whom was Whitlow, with both men reportedly giving deputies a story about how and why they had the items on the truck and trailer, but the story could not be immediately verified. Deputies seized the articles, and a check of the National Crime Information Center indicated that Whitlow had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office in Conway. The second man was released pending further investigation.

Investigators returned to the home to find a central air conditioning unit had been removed from the residence, which unit was found among the items confiscated. Investigators say that all of the copper in the house had been stolen, and most of the tin was removed from outbuildings.

A search of "Leads on Line" revealed that Whitlow had previously sold numerous items to a local recycler, including tin and copper wire and copper tubing, that matched what had been stolen from the house.

The damages to the residence and outbuildings was estimated at approximately $50,000.
