Louisville couple accused of stealing, selling iPhones

February 11, 2014

Louisville Metro Police say a local couple is facing charges related to stolen iPhones. They say the man stole them and the woman sold them.

According to arrest reports, 31-year-old Casey Knott walked into the Cricket Wireless store at the corner of Portland Ave. and N. 24th St. on Feb. 6, and stole two iPhones worth a total of $1,100.

The theft was captured on surveillance video, according to police.

The next day, 30-year-old Lauren Baker -- Knott's live-in girlfriend, according to police -- allegedly sold the iPhones while standing near an ATM at the Jefferson Mall. Police say they were able to track the stolen phones to Baker through online leads.

Baker allegedly admitted to selling the iPhones, and even told police that she was "worried that it could be stolen," according to an arrest report. Police say she told them she got the iPhones from Knott.

Knott would eventually admit to the theft, police say.

The couple was arrested Monday night. Police say Knott has been charged with theft by unlawful taking. Baker has been charged with receipt of stolen property.
